Grand Baie-Enchanting and Overall Destination for Holiday Makers

Popularly referred as the ‘Bay without End’ by the Dutch in the 17^th century, Grand Baie or Grand Bay is a coastal place in Rivière du Rempart District and Pamplemousses District in Mauritius positioned on the northwest coast.

Major Places of Tourist Interest:

Beaches: Placed in the center of the Grand Baie, Grand Baie Beach is spectacular and beautiful where one can see lots of people relishing the water for swimming and other various purposes. The water seems to be crystal clear early in the morning but as the time passes, the beach is fully covered by tourists making the water invisible.

Another popular beach, La Cuvette Beach is a serene and is perfect for the isolation seekers as it is less crowded. The water in this beach remains crystal clear all round the day. Long stroll along the beach side is supposed to wash away all your worries and tensions owing to the tranquility and blissful ambience that it possesses.  

Surya Oudaya Sangam and Shiv Kalyan Vath Mandir: Both of the temples are devoted to Lord Shiva, the first one is located at the west side of the town and the second towards Pereybere. Shiv Kalyan Vath Mandir is older than the former one and is a colorful Tamil temple. Both of the temples accept visitors, but guests are allowed to enter in bare foot. 

Things to Do:

Under Sea Walk: One can walk under water wearing a divers helmet and a weight belt, during the 25 minutes of undersea walk oxygen are provided by the solar powered pumps on the boat. The age limit for this fantasized water game is just seven years.

Gym and Spa: The Grand Baie Gym and Hydro Spa in this place offers visitors with spa treatment and a gym where one can indulge in order to rejuvenate and invigorate your inner body, mind and soul for a complete relaxation. Turkish bath is a popular activity which one must try.       

Beside lying on the silvery beach side, soaking yourself into the azure waters and sun bathing under the clear blue sky; one can also relish sports fishing, magic sailing, sailing, windsurfing, glass bottom boat trips and sky dive austral etc.

Climate: With temperate summers and gentle winters, it can be visited throughout the year. The beach and lagoons shelter the winds making the wind offshore. The summers can be really humid at some time.

Shopping: Books, clothing, handicraft, designer wearing and many more items can be purchased at number of shops including Sunset Boulevard, Grand Baie Bazaar, Del Sol and Papyrus etc. which are placed in different parts of this place. This place is full on entertainer for the clothing shoppers who would like to buy some great clothing.     

Accommodation: Wide range of accommodation options are available in this place ranging from luxury to a budgeted one depending on the budget of a traveler. However, the luxurious of the hotel of the hotel are not present.
