The tourism department of the state is ready with a package with couple of months before the Durga Puja celebration. The state government is practical this time to hold the puja crowd with a package which will cost you around Rs. 1, 250 commencing from Mahalaya on the 4th of October granting an opportunity to offer tarpan to the people.
Specific preparations for priests and boats are set to carry out the ritual on the boats with priests to facilitate the ritual of tarpan in which one can even pay homage to their ancestors. There is an option to watch the ritual for the people who don’t want to offer tarpan followed by a visit to Kumartuli where they can witness the concluding touch being given to the varied idols. One can also attend to Belur Math and Dakshineshwar through a launch which will be in place.
The tourism minister Krishnendu Narayan Choudhury said, “We are beginning the puja voyage from Mahalaya so that more people can be accommodated and it will be an exceptional experience to watch thousands participating in the rituals, even if one isn’t offering tarpan." The puja tourism mainly focused on pandal hoping in the past years, but this time we want to display the puja rituals from Mahalaya, he added.
Various arrangements are made to magnetize tourists by setting up a stall at the international arrival lounge of the Delhi airport and by ornamenting the bus stands. Street shows are being conducted in Hyderabad and Chennai to buildup Durga Puja. Promotions will also be held in Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Delhi to attract tourists in the middle of August
Arrangements will be intended to Chhatubabu and Latubabu's house, Khelat Ghosh, Chandra Bari and Rani Rashmoni's house and Sobhabazar Rajbari, where conventional puja will be carried-out; whereas attendance to some of the famed pandals like Baghbazar, Madox square, Deshapriya Park, College Square, Ekdalia Evergreen, Muhammad Ali Park, Adi Ballygunj and Madox Square are also a fraction of the puja package. Other visitations in the North Kolkata for watching idols in the pandals include; Kumartuli Park, Ahiritola, Pathuriaghata, Kashi Bose Lane, Telenga Bagan, Maniktala, Chalta Bagan and the pujas at South Kolkata includes visit to; Singhi Park, Hindustan Park, Mudiali, Shib Mandir, Badamtala Ashar Sangha, 66 Palli, Suruchi and Chetla Agrani.
From 10th to 14th of October there will be customary voyage on the Hooghly River and on 15th of October; tourists can observe the majestic fascination rituals. Tours to Murhsidabad, Dooars and Sunderbans will also be on offer, the tourism minister added.
